Freedom from the Feed

A Psychologist’s Journey to Breaking the Scroll Cycle and Reclaiming a Meaningful Life

by Dr. Kia Yang, Psy.D., also known professionally as Dr. Yang-Garcia

About the book

A quieter way back to your own life.

The book explores the pull of the scroll and the life that waits on the other side of it. Through a psychologist’s perspective, it considers our relationship with the feed and the possibility of making more room for what matters.

It is for people who feel their attention slipping away in small pieces, and who want more time for people, places, work and rest that matter to them offline.

No release date has been announced, and the book is not available for purchase.

Philosophy

The app succeeds when you close it.

The measure of a good tool is how fully you return to your life after using it. The companion app is built around that idea: it is there to support you, then to get out of the way.

Elements of the book and app

Two ideas at the heart of it

The Mindful Digital Reclamation Method

An element of both the forthcoming book and its companion app. It brings mindfulness to the question of where our attention goes, with culturally responsive care and a focus on reconnecting with what we value.

The 30-Day Reset

Also an element of the book and companion app. More details will be shared as the book takes shape.

These are part of the book and app. They are not clinically validated treatments, and no results are promised.

Where to go next

You don’t have to wait for the book.

The companion app is a separate experience you can visit today. You can also meet the author, or try some gentle ideas with your family.
